چکیده
This technical note is concerned with aeroelastic flutter problems: the analysis of systems undergoing airspeed-dependent dynamic instability. Existing continuation methods for parametric stability are based on marching along an airspeed parameter until point found - approach which may waste computational effort low-airspeed system behavior, before a located and characterized. Here, we describe pseudospectral instead marches outwards from system's points, points instability to increasing damping, allowing efficient characterization subcritical supercritical behavior system. ties together abstract linear algebra, provides computing practical properties instance, flight envelopes maximum modal location borderline-stable zones.

Analysis of Piecewise Linear Aeroelastic Systems Using Numerical Continuation
This paper demonstrates the application of a numerical continuation method to dynamic piecewise aeroelastic systems. The aeroelastic system is initially converted into a state space form, and then into a set of equations which solve the system as the motion moves between different linear zones in a freeplay motion. Once an initial condition is found that satisfies these sets of equations a cont...
متن کاملHelicopter Blade Stability Analysis Using Aeroelastic Frequency Response Functions
In the present paper, the aeroelastic stability of helicopter rotor blade is determined using Aeroelastic Frequency Response Function. The conventional methods of aeroelastic stability usually use an iterative procedure while the present method does not require such approach. Aeroelastic Frequency Response Functions are obtained by inverting dynamic stiffness matrix of the aeroelastic system. S...
متن کاملSuppressing Aeroelastic Vibrations via Stability Region Maximization and Numerical Continuation Techniques
An active flutter suppression using linear sub-optimal control scheme is investigated for a 2dof airfoil system with nonlinear torsional stiffness and limited deflection amplitude of its single actuator. The suppression of limit cycle oscillations in the nonlinear closed-loop system is achieved through maximization of the stability region of its linearized system. The critical value of the cont...

in the present paper, the aeroelastic stability of helicopter rotor blade is determined using aeroelastic frequency response function. the aeroelastic model of blade is obtained by combining dowell - hodges beam model with loewy unsteady aerodynamic theory which considers an unsteady wake beneath the rotor. equations are formed and aeroelastic frequency response functions are obtained by invert...
متن کاملStability and Accuracy of Numerical Boundary Conditions in Aeroelastic Analysis
This paper analyses the accuracy and numerical stability of coupling procedures in aeroelastic modelling. A two-dimensional model problem assuming unsteady inviscid ow past an oscillating wall leads to an even simpler one-dimensional model problem. Analysis of different numerical algorithms shows that in general the coupling procedures are numerically stable, but care is required to achieve acc...
